How to create custom objects from a ready-made template

Go to Settings › Objects › Add Custom Object › Use a template, pick the template for your industry (real estate, insurance, automotive, events, pets, home services…), review the preview of objects, fields and associations, and click Import Objects. Then adjust what you need.

Updated on

Before you start

  • You need to be an account administrator.
  • Check how many objects you already have: the limit is 10 per account and a template can create several.
  • Look at your existing objects first so you don't create duplicates (e.g. already having a "Properties" object and the template bringing another).
Where to find it

Settings › Objects › Add Custom Object › Use a template

Step by step

Apply a template

  1. In the left menu, open Settings and click Objects.
  2. Click Add Custom Object.
  3. Choose Use a template.
  4. Browse the available templates by industry: real estate, insurance, automotive, subscription software, events, pets and home services.
  5. Click the template closest to your business.
  6. Read the preview: which objects it creates, which fields (grouped in folders), which associations, plus the description, tags and prerequisites.
  7. Click Import Objects.

Review what was created

  1. Go back to Settings › Objects: the new objects appear in the list.
  2. Open each object and confirm its name, icon and description; adjust them to your team's vocabulary.
  3. Under Settings › Custom Fields, review the fields created for each object; delete the ones you won't use and add any that are missing.
  4. On each object's Associations tab, confirm the links (e.g. Property ↔ Contact "Buyer") and create any that are missing.
  5. Only then start creating or importing records.

Tips

  • The template creates the structure (objects, fields, folders, associations), not records or workflows; your data comes next, by hand or via CSV.
  • It's best to apply a template to an account that's still "clean" of objects: adapting is easier than merging with what was already there.
  • If there's no template for your industry, pick the closest one and rename the objects, or create the object by hand.

Common problems

  • I don't see the Use a template option → Only administrators see it. If it's still missing, the template library may be restricted on your account; contact support.
  • The template wasn't imported because there's no room → You already had too many objects for the 10-object limit. Delete objects you don't use (careful: deleting an object deletes its records) and try again.
  • There are fields I don't use → Delete them under Settings › Custom Fields before you start entering records.
  • The created objects have names I'd like to change → Open each object in Objects and change the singular and plural names; the internal name doesn't need to change.

Frequently asked questions

Does the template delete or change the objects I already have?

The template creates new objects. Review the preview before importing and check the object list afterward.

Can I save my own objects as a template to reuse?

No, only the system templates are currently available.
