Google Calendar stopped syncing: how to reconnect it

It's almost always because Google revoked access (password change, permissions removed, security alert). Under Settings › Calendars › Connections, click Reconnect and authorize with the same Google account. If that doesn't fix it, delete the connection and add it again with + Add New.

Updated on

Before you start

  • The person reconnecting must own the Google account and be signed in to the CRM as their own user. You can't connect someone else's Google account from a "login as" session.
  • Have the Google account's email and password handy and be ready to approve the requested permissions.
  • Deleting and reconnecting doesn't erase appointments already in the CRM; sync resumes afterwards.
Where to find it

Settings › Calendars › Connections

Step by step

Understand what happened

  1. Typical signs: new bookings don't appear in Google Calendar, a "disconnected" message shows, or a red banner asks you to reconnect.
  2. Usual causes: you changed the Google account password, removed permissions in Google's settings, Google blocked access over suspicious activity, or the authorization expired.

Try first: reconnect

  1. Open Settings › Calendars and click Connections.
  2. If the Google account shows a missing-permissions warning or a Reconnect button, click it. You can also check under Settings › Integrations › Google.
  3. In Google's window, pick the same account that was already connected and accept every permission requested.
  4. Back in the CRM, confirm the account shows as connected under Connections. Upcoming bookings that weren't synced are pushed automatically.

If that doesn't fix it: delete and connect again

  1. Under Connections, in Connected Calendars, click the trash icon next to the Google account (you can also do this under Settings › My Profile › Calendar Settings).
  2. Check the acknowledgement box and click Confirm.
  3. Click + Add New, choose Google Calendar, sign in with the right account and authorize the connection.
  4. Select the linked calendar and conflict calendars again under Calendar Configuration.

Test it

  1. Create a test appointment in the CRM and confirm it appears in Google Calendar.
  2. Create an event in Google and confirm it blocks the slot in the CRM. If it still fails, contact support.

Tips

  • Whenever you change the Google account's password or security settings, re-authorize the connection so sync doesn't drop.
  • Each user can connect several accounts, but only one primary calendar syncs.

Common problems

  • The Google account shows connected but nothing syncs → Permissions are missing. Under Settings › Integrations › Google, click Reconnect and accept all permissions.
  • The account is connected but the calendar I want isn't available to pick → Connecting the account and selecting the calendar are separate steps. Under Calendar Configuration, edit the linked calendar and choose the right one; make sure it belongs to the account or was shared with sufficient access.
  • My account isn't in Google's account chooser → Use the option to sign in with another account and enter the right one. Don't connect a different account just because the old one isn't listed.
  • The calendar was deleted in Google and there's an error → Under Connections, click Fix This, then Remove Deleted Calendars, and pick a valid calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Will I lose appointments if I delete the connection?

No. Existing appointments stay in the CRM. After reconnecting, upcoming ones sync again.

Can I connect a different Google account?

Yes. After deleting the old connection, you can sign in with another account; make sure it's the one holding the right events.
