How to create a category queue of posts that cycles on its own
Go to Marketing › Social Planner › New Post › Category Queue, pick or create the category, set the publishing days and time slots and click Queue Posts. Posts in that category go out in order and start over when the queue reaches the end. Manage it under Content › Category Queue.

Before you start
- Have your networks connected to the Social Planner.
- To build the queue from posts you've already published, those posts must have a category assigned. You can also create the category and new posts during setup.
- Pick an evergreen theme for the queue (tips, behind the scenes, testimonials), because the content will repeat in cycles.
Where to find it
Marketing › Social Planner › New Post › Category Queue
Step by step
Create the queue
- In the left menu, open Marketing and click Social Planner.
- Click New Post and choose Category Queue.
- Under Select a Category, pick the category to use. To create a new one, type the name and choose the option to add it.
- Turn on Enable future posts queuing if you want posts you create later in that category to join the queue automatically.
- Turn on Prioritize new content so new content goes to the front of the queue (off, it goes to the end).
- Click Continue.
- Choose the publishing days and time slots for the queue and click Queue Posts.
- Review the posts: edit text or media, click New Post to add more and drag each one into the position you want. You can add content variations so the queue rotates different versions of the same post.
- Resolve any cautions, warnings and errors. When no blocking errors remain, click Queue Posts to activate it. Before that you can Save as Draft, Reset or Delete.
Manage the queue
- Open Marketing › Social Planner › Content › Category Queue and click the queue's options menu.
- Edit queue: change posts, captions, media, variations, frequency, time slots and order (drag and drop).
- Queue preferences: turn automatic queuing of future posts and new-content priority on or off. Changes take effect from the next cycle.
- View queue calendar: weekly or monthly view to spot gaps or overloaded days.
- Reschedule queue: moves the whole queue to a new start date, keeping the frequency and time slots.
- To pause or resume, use the queue status toggle. To remove it, choose Delete from the menu.
Add a post to the queue from the composer
- While creating a regular post, open the arrow next to Post and choose Add to Queue.
- Pick an existing category (it joins that queue) or create a new one (a new queue is created).
Tips
- Check the status of each category and queue (active, paused or draft) under Social Planner › Settings › Categories.
- Use variations so the queue doesn't always publish exactly the same text: it helps keep networks from flagging the content as duplicate.
- A category queue is different from a recurring post: recurrence repeats one post; the queue rotates several posts on a theme.
Common problems
- I can't change the date of a single queued post → Individual posts can't be rescheduled or dragged in the queue calendar. Use Edit queue to change the order or Reschedule queue to move everything.
- I created a post in the category and it didn't join the queue → Enable future posts queuing is off in the queue preferences. Turn it on; it applies from the next cycle.
- The queue isn't publishing anything → It is paused or in draft. Check the status toggle under Content › Category Queue and activate it.
- No older posts show up to choose from → Only published posts with the category assigned are included. Assign the category to those posts or create new posts inside the queue.
