Before you start
- The course and the module where the assessment goes must already exist.
- Have your questions and correct answers ready; for an assignment, the instructions and any template files (.docx, .pdf, .pptx).
- Decide whether the quiz requires a passing grade.
Where to find it
Memberships › Courses › Products › (open the course) › + Add Content › Add Quiz / Add Assignment
Step by step
Add the assessment to the course
- Open Memberships › Courses › Products and click the course.
- In the course map, click + Add Content next to the module (or in the top-right corner).
- Choose Add Quiz or Add Assignment. The item appears in the module's content list.
- Click the pencil icon to edit it.
Set up a quiz
- Enter the quiz title (students see it).
- To grade it, check This quiz requires passing grade and enter the percentage needed to pass.
- Upload a thumbnail if you like.
- Write the pass confirmation message and fail confirmation message students see depending on their result (formatting and links are supported).
- Click Add Question. For each question, pick the type (single choice or multiple choice), write the options, mark the correct answer and, optionally, an explanation.
- Click Save and change the status from Draft to Published.
Set up an assignment
- Enter the assignment title.
- If it doesn't need grading, check Ungraded Assignment to accept submissions without review.
- Under Instructions, explain what the student should submit; you can format text and include links.
- Under Upload Templates, attach supporting or starter files.
- Write the confirmation message shown after submission.
- Click Save and publish.
View results
- Open Memberships › Courses › Analytics › Assessments.
- Filter by product and by result (processing, passed, failed).
- Click the eye icon on a row to see that student's answers and score.
- Click Export to download a file with date, student email, quiz title, score, pass/fail and individual answers. Up to 500 rows downloads instantly; above that you get an email with a link valid for 24 hours.
Tips
- With a passing grade enabled, students see their score and which questions were right or wrong, but not the correct answer. Without a passing grade, they also see the correct answers and explanations.
- Students can review their last submission and retake the quiz.
- To send a certificate automatically to anyone who passes the quiz, use a workflow with the assessment completed trigger.
Common problems
- Students can't see the quiz → It's in Draft or Locked. Change the status to Published in the course map.
- I want to use the same quiz in another course → Assessments can't be reused: each one belongs to the product and module where it was created. Build it again or import the module from the other course.
- I don't see the Export button in Assessments → Only users with the Admin or Instructor role can see it.
- Students can't submit the assignment → Make sure the assignment is published and the module isn't locked by drip scheduling.
Frequently asked questions
Do students see the correct answers after submitting?
Only if the quiz has no passing grade. With a passing grade, they only see whether each answer was right or wrong.
Can I put a quiz at the end of every module?
Yes. Add a quiz to each module; completing the module can depend on it.
