How to recover a previous version of a page (auto-save and version history)

The builder saves your changes automatically. To go back, click the clock icon in the top-right corner of the builder, pick a version from the list on the left (each one is time-stamped) and click Restore Version, or Publish to push it live right away.

Updated on

Before you start

  • Version history exists for funnels, websites, blogs, webinars and the store. Each page or step has its own history.
  • A new version is saved every 10 minutes if changes were made in that window, and also whenever you click Save.
  • Up to 50 versions are kept per page (automatic and manual combined). Once the limit is reached, the oldest ones are removed.
Where to find it

Sites › Funnels or Websites › (open the page) › Edit › clock icon (top-right corner)

Step by step

Check that auto-save is working

  1. Open the page in the builder and make a change.
  2. Watch the indicator next to the top buttons: it shows Saving… and then Auto Saved.
  3. If you prefer, keep clicking Save: the manual button is still available and also creates a version.

Restore a previous version

  1. In the builder, click the clock icon in the top-right corner. The version history opens.
  2. In the list on the left, versions show their date and time. Click one to view it in the preview area.
  3. Compare until you find the right version.
  4. In the top-right corner, choose:
    • Restore Version: the page returns to that version in the builder, so you can keep editing and publish whenever you're ready.
    • Publish: publishes that version straight to the live site.
  5. Confirm and check the page.

Tips

  • Before a big change, click Save to mark a manual version you can return to.
  • If the browser crashes or the tab closes, changes made up to the last auto-save are protected.
  • When you restore a version, the Global and Universal sections used on the page don't roll back: they always show the section's latest saved version. Fix those separately.
  • When editing a Global section, a warning reminds you the change applies to every page it's on.

Common problems

  • I can't find the version from several days ago → Only the last 50 versions are kept. If the page was edited heavily, the older ones are already gone.
  • I restored the page but the header or footer still has the new change → It's a Global or Universal section, which has no history. Edit the section directly to fix it.
  • I made changes and the live page didn't update → Auto-save stores the draft, it doesn't publish. Click Publish.
  • The indicator is stuck on "Saving…" → Check your internet connection and wait; if it persists, click Save manually before closing.
  • I don't see the clock icon → It's in the top-right corner of the page builder. Make sure you opened the page with Edit and not just the step list.

Frequently asked questions

Does the history record who made the change?

Each version shows a date and time. To see who changed what, use your account's audit logs.

Does restoring a version delete the newer ones?

No. All versions stay in the list; you can return to any of them within the 50-version limit.
