How to fix the errors that block publishing a workflow

When you click Publish and see "Workflow can't be published yet", click Review issues. The Resolve Errors sidebar lists each step with a problem: click Open step to fix its configuration or How to fix for AI help. Fix them all and publish.

Before you start

  • Saving and publishing are different things: you can save a workflow with errors and come back later; only publishing requires the blocking errors to be resolved.
  • The errors detected are configuration issues: required fields left blank (e.g. SMS with no text, email with no subject), no calendar chosen in an appointment trigger, a disconnected integration, incomplete If/Else or Wait steps.

Step by step

Fix errors before publishing

  1. Open the workflow. Steps with a problem show an error indicator on the canvas.
  2. Click Publish. If there are blocking errors, the Workflow can't be published yet dialog appears with the list of affected steps.
  3. Click Review issues. The Resolve Errors sidebar opens with each step and its error description.
  4. For each error, click Open step to go straight to the trigger's or action's configuration and fill in what's missing.
  5. If you don't understand the error, click How to fix for the AI to explain the problem and suggest a correction. Always review the result.
  6. As you fix each one, its indicator clears on its own. Repeat until the list is empty.
  7. Click Publish again.

Get notified when a published workflow fails

  1. In the workflows list, open Workflow Settings and turn on error notifications; add the email addresses that should receive the alert.
  2. When an action fails (for example, a webhook or an AI action), you get an email with a button to review it; at most one email is sent every 24 hours.
  3. In the workflows list, the Needs Review tab shows workflows with errors. Click a workflow to open its Execution Logs and, once reviewed, mark the errors as read.

Tips

  • You can hide the error indicators on the canvas to get more room, but that doesn't fix the errors: publishing stays blocked.
  • Pre-publish errors (configuration) and execution errors (a contact failing at a step) are different things: the latter show up in Execution Logs.

Common problems

  • I fixed everything and it still won't publish → There's still an error in the list. Open Review issues again and confirm the sidebar is empty.
  • The error mentions an integration → The connection (Facebook, Google…) has expired. Go to Settings › Integrations, authorize the connection again and reopen the step.
  • I saved and the errors are still there → That's normal: saving doesn't require fixing errors. Only publishing is blocked.
  • I don't get the error emails → Notifications are off by default. Turn them on in Workflow Settings and check the recipient emails.
